Naivete. I think I generally believe people have good rationale or reasons why they might do evil things- fear, self protection, bad past experiences. Like an unprocessed belief that evil exists not because people are evil but because they are somehow formed that way in their experiences. And what's needed is an undoing of the bad. But as life goes by, i really see how affected people are by intrinsic sin, something inherently evil and have a life of its own, living within people and influencing them. And that even trying, by human effort, to get out of cycles we even see ourselves suffer from, is never ending. Change is hard. Hard and incomplete. I think that box is that naivete about the nature of evil in the world. But what replaces it is faith and relief, that God is the one who can supernaturally get even the worst case scenarios, into geniune change of life and turnaround for the better against their natural pains and nature.
